You think they should need a test ? you think they should be ok'd by a psychologist ? age limits ? and so on and so on

Point being. there are far too many rules you'd need to implement, and once you think you've thought of enough scenarios to make Guns properly regulated, thats when you find all the nutjobs your screening system didnt get, and so on forever.

And in canada the penalty for stealing a firearm is life in prison, when was the last time you heard of anyone get life for stealing a firearm?
The laws are there, but the judges let these people out on bail with a bracelet on their foot and then they end up shooting up the mall.

So you think that someone who has a gun, intending to kill someone (last I heard, first degree murder is 25 years), is going to consider a 10 year jail term a deterrent?

Your logic seems to be that 1) if someone is carrying a gun, they must have intent to kill as that is a gun's purpose. However, 2) despite wanting to kill, a 10 year prison sentence will somehow convince them to not bother with a gun.
