I'm sure it wasn't the first time the kid reached into the purse. I see it as an irresponsible storage example. Still, guns save over a million Americans from violent crimes every year...
Extremely preventable. Unfortunate that the child will grow up with this trauma. Not a gun thing, not a walmart thing, a stupid person thing. Ridiculous.

Yetti couldnt tell you how many times he wished he had a handgun while shopping at Walmart.
That was actually meant to be sarcastic, But kinda not.. lol
anyways.. WTF is this chick doing walking around with a gun ? is walmart that dangerous a place ? Yetti gets that US citizen have a right to bear arms and blah blah blah.. that doesnt mean you should walk around with it all the time.
Do you think they got a discount on their purchases ?

The whole point of carrying a gun is to have it if you need it, but you think it is possible to know when you will need it?
You could go your whole life never needing your sealbelt or helmet, but the one time you do need it is the time you are not using it.
The part that was stupid about this story was not the bit about a woman carrying a gun... it was the bit about a woman carrying a loaded gun, round in the chamber, no safety on, and she let her toddler play in her purse.

If I carried (if it were legal), I would carry a loaded gun with a round in the chamber ready to go... but I also wouldn't leave it in a bag with a toddler playing around in it -- I'd have it in a holster and no one would be touching it but me.

This is key. You know, responsibility and all.

Seriously, how hard is it to have the safety on? It was a stupid woman not taking the minimum of gun safety. Hell, even my kids know to keep the safety on. ...and that's on pellet guns.
I have to agree with Chuck U, she should have had it on her person in a secured holster, I guess fashion is the real culprit here. Feel sorry for the kid, gonna mess him up for sure.
Question for all the gunners, why are sa's more popular than revolvers? Number of bullets?
I actually find it funny when gun owners get killed by their own guns.
Do you find it funny when bikers get killed while out riding?

Steve, I've never shot a revolver, so I am sure the others can offer more insight, but my understanding is that they are not as popular because 1) fewer rounds and takes longer to reload and 2) much heavier trigger pull meaning it is harder to be accurate.
Yetti, I'd agree that the reasons to carry a gun in Canada might be very rare and few and far between, but that is not to say there is absolutely no need. Those eight people killed in Edmonton the other day might have stood a chance if any of them were armed.
The thing is though... as I stated above, you never know when you might need a gun, and having a populace that carries in itself would be a deterrent to any wacko going nuts -- it also makes for a very polite society.
How many of those 77 people that Breivik killed in Norway a few years back would have been killed if Norwegians were armed?
Instances such as that might be rare, but if I ever get caught in one I would rather go out fighting than cowering in fear hoping to not get shot.

Wockerguy, congratulations,, you just won Dumbest post of 2015.
Theres a Major difference between being shot with your own weapon, and dying in an accident. Its a Little thing called Irony.
You see, A weapon, Such as a handgun has but one purpose. to Kill the thing you are pointing it at. To be Killed by your own weapon is the Ultimate fail, and Yes, Its fucking Hilarious.
