So my crv has started to burn oil at a somewhat alarming rate recently.
I talk to the fine folks at the dealership and this is apparently the first time in their lives that they've heard of such a problem and tell me to call Honda Canada.
I call these clowns and once again they've never heard of such a thing! I guess that lawsuit they settled in the states for over 1,600,000 honda owners was just something i imagined.
Thousands of people complaining of the exact same problem, the recalls that they issued as well as numerous service bulletins once again were all a part of my imagination!
And when i tell Mr. Honda representative all of this he replies with "Oh, thats Honda usa, we're a completely different company. Honda canada isn't aware of any such issues"
f_ _k me sideways, these people are retarded. So what's the solution you ask? 8-10 hours of diagnosis @ 100-110$ an hour and a oil consumption test to determine if the liter of oil every 1000K isn't something i've once again imagined. All supposedly to be paid by me....and after all is said and done, from what i've read online from other honda owners they'll claim that the oil consumption is normal. What the f_ _k happened to this company?

Modern times called for necessary greed and fuck the consumer my friend. This is a large part of why I got out of the auto industry. I'd be looking at a trade in elsewhere while you can. I've seen many people go through similar situations with months if not years of wait bs and talk from the manufacturer.
Nothing new from a Honda engine. Even their bikes burn oil.
Have you tried a synthetic oil?

If you think the CRV has issues, look up the Camry.....
I'd get rid of it now. Easier said than done as cars lose value every day, but better to cut your losses instead of being told (after $1000) that it's perfectly ok for your engine to lose 1.5L of oil between oil changes. "acceptable range" i think they call it.
and ironically, yeah, Honda USA is a different company from Honda CAN, from Honda Europe, from Honda Mexico, etc etc. It's all a wonderful umbrella system, with links but no ties.
I hear Ford does a great ecoboost thing.....

There's no way in hell i'm putting a penny into any of this. It's their fuck up that they knew about and im not getting hosed. I already paid a premium when purchasing their car with the illusion that i'm paying for reliability.
Problem is what car to get now? Seems majority have their issues...
Even my shitty Elantra has the same amount of oil since my oil change. Then again I'm running synthetic

Bulletin issued May 2013 for high oil consumption for 2010-11 CRV's
Sticking rings causing problem.
A-5-13 is the bulletin number.
On some 2010-2011 CR-Vs, the engine oil level is low on the dipstick, and the oil warning light may come on in rare high oil consumption situations. The most probable cause is under certain specific circumstances the engine may create deposits on the oil control rings, which may lead to increased oil consumption when all of the following conditions occur simultaneously on a regular and prolonged basis: • The engine is cold (not warmed up to operating temperature) • Hard acceleration while the engine is cold • The fuel used has an unusually high concentration of particles – Honda recommends using Top Tier gas that contains detergents to prevent deposits. For more information about Top Tier gas, go to www.toptiergas.com. All these conditions happening at the same time are rare, but if they do occur, deposits may form over years of driving under these conditions. If the oil control rings begin to stick because of the deposits, the client may subsequently complain about excessive oil consumption. To correct the problem, replace all the engine pistons and the piston rings.
