I've been buying these from Royal D. For years & using these on my bike. Looks solid on the exterior so I decided to crack one open to see what's inside. Well built filter!
Packaging
The anti drainback valve is not that flexible. Probably nitrile which is not that great. Some uses silicone & more flexible.
Note the spring which presses it together. Some uses a leaf spring which is not as great. This uses an actual spring. Bonus points.
Inner core is metal & not plastic. This prevents the filter media from falling inwards.
This is the bypass valve that if the media becomes blocked it will open up to release unfiltered oil. Looks like a a good seal. Thumbs up!
Filter media. It seems firmly attached & not held by cardboard walls. I'm calling you out Fram! Well made media but don't know how much microns it captures.
Conclusion this is an excellent buy & great for the price. This one was made in Taiwan. The newer ones are made in China. Will have to crack those open to analyze.
