What cross fire? 3 shots. The military cop just opens fire on the robber. No warning. Part of my says to at least give the crook a chance to surrender, but then again....
More for the cop's sanity in the long run. Then again a MP may have seen and done it before, so not going to lose sleep offing a criminal.

The guy behind is an old man. He just got swept for a few seconds. In the military that's ok, as long as you don't have your finger on the trigger.
I can't imagine a group of soldiers in a battlefield not sweeping each other.
