I ordered a few items from the US. Taxes paid and I see another fee of $10 for handling. Postal worker said it's CCRA and to call the phone # on the pkg. I called CCRA and they said it is a Canada Post charge for collecting the taxes and remitting and brokerage. I was like what fee, it's a letter size envelope and I paid for the postage and the taxes are automatic so what are they doing. I guess this is their new way to make $$$ from those importing/receiving packages outside Canada.
The CCRA lady was cool and even said we get lots of call because they tell ppl it is us collecting but on the Can Post website the info is now posted. The lady laughed and we both agreed this is a sham and no wonder they are going under.
So, whatever you order they seem to hit you with at least $10 handling fee (even a letter size envelope).
Not sure why we have to pay these salaries for an unskilled person to walk around and drop off a letter to a mailbox. They should move home delivery to M/W/F 3 days a week and save a lot of $$$ on transportation as well as hire highschool students to deliver the mail. WTH!
*but if I order something from China there is NO $10 handling fee applied...wth?
