As this winter has been mild, it's still too cold to ride regularly.
I'm looking forward to the show in a couple weeks to make vroom vroom noises on a few bikes I'm interested in. I've been thinking about getting a more street friendly bike that won't have me losing my license every time I shift into 2nd. (Actually, it just takes effort to get into license losing territory).
I've been looking more and more at the Z1000, FZ1, the new Z800 and new gsx-s. I don't know how I feel about the FZ-09 and it's suspension but that's just me. I'd like something Japanese again, although I've heard good things about the Street/Speed triple.
What do you guys think of these middle/heavy weight naked bikes? I haven't owned a naked bike since I had an sv650 way back when. My problem is also I'm so used to the handling and performance response of super sports and 1000+cc bikes.
Any other bikes you think would fit in the criteria of 'good street bike' I missed?

haha, nothing. I love it. My back doesn't after about an hour. Maybe I'm getting older/lazier/want to try something different? Also, something that will help me keep not lose my license as easily.
Also something I can just park and not worry if it will be there when i come back to it.
I also prefer Latte Lamborghini, or Machiato Rattler.
If you're going naked and 1000's are in the equation what about the s1000r? I've read a bunch of great reviews on it. Personally I like the fz09 and would just change the suspension. I was checking out the gsx1000s in Indy. Love everything about it. I saw a review on the 750 and the complaint was power and delivery. It was noted it seemed to fall on its face compared to the competitors. If money meant nothing though it would be a tuono or the s1000r over having a sport bike on the road.
Right now I'm leaning towards the Kawi. Gonna see what the wife prefers to ride passenger on. That'll probably be deciding factor. Gotta downsize to 1 bike.

All I hear about the fz09 is twitchy throttle and soft suspension. I heard they updated the throttle so it's better. However I'll probably have to update the suspension at least. I'm a heavy guy anyway.

I'll do a few demo rides this spring and see what's what. Thanks for your feedback. You're probably the 5th person that has praised the FZ09 for the street.

I've been thinking about the same bike for a while now but i just don't have the heart to sell my gsxr...
