My folks have been asking me about getting them an hd antenna. I don't know the first thing about it, other then there's an outdoor/indoor one and they're hard to find.

Anyone has one or knows where i can get a decent one?
Thinking outdoor, probably able to get more channels that way and they live in a house...

Definitely go outdoor. Depending on the area, it might be a good idea to get a couple of them hooked up but I never bothered with that. Can't stand commercials lol

I've got this one setup in Scarborough. It's outside mounted to the old tv tower on the side of the house, picks up 26 Channels (Major networks in Toronto, US channels from Buffalo). Canada Computers has a good return policy as well if it doesn't work out. Yeah you can find cheaper stuff out there, but this works out of the box, just plug it in and away you go. Your folks must have a tv that has a built in tuner to work with any antenna source. Most tv's newer than 5-6 years should have one built in.

If your folks are somewhat tech savvy and don't care much for live tv, you could always get them an android box and setup some on-demand streaming, i.e. netflix, etc.

edit: don't bother with the outdoor indoor ones unless you can see the CN tower clearly from their house. The best solution is a roof/house mounted outdoor antenna. Check out tvfool.com and see what channels you should be able to get in your area.

I tried hooking up the android box for them, showed them how to use it and all. Unfortunately their rogers internet doesn't work half the time so that kinda defeats the purpose.

Same here, when i see a commercial i wanna lose my mind. I've been spoiled by xbmc/kodi. That's all i have at my place. 2 boxes for the tvs and kodi on the laptop. Couldn't be happier.

This is the exact one I got and works great for what it is. I agree, once you're used to no commercials, it's hard watching live tv.

I think I might have to get a new antenna, I tried locating it in different areas of the house. I will have to try the attic when I have time
