I've never had this one happen to me before:
I have a parcel coming. Tracking says it has been delivered to my community mailbox, so I go get the mail from the box, and no key has been provided.
So I called Canada Post and ask what happens to parcels that are left in the community mailbox since I don't have the key to retrieve it. The answer: they leave it there for 5 days and then card it for your local retail outlet.
So the parcel I am expecting to get today is now in limbo until Christmas Day, which actually means it is in limbo until Monday the 29th at the earliest... great.

They once left an important parcel in my front door without ringing the bell. I know because I was home.
Imagine it was a gun that day? Idiots

I actually had that happen to me just last week. Granted they rang the doorbell before leaving, but with my car in the garage there was no obvious sign anyone was home.

I don't mind them leaving parcels in my enclosed porch. That is safe enough.
Much better than the times tracking updated to say Parcel carded for pickup at retail location -- despite being home all morning and no card left anywhere in sight.

No idea... not in my mailbox. I think either the mailman put it in the wrong mailbox, so someone else can take my parcel, or the key is elsewhere i.e. in his pocket, in the outgoing mail slot, still in the compartment with the parcel... who knows?
I ended up contacting the company that sent the parcel and they are sending a replacement -- faster than waiting for this key nonsense. If I ever get my hands on the one that is in the box, that will be returned to sender.

how come you dont have a key for community mailbox ?
I have my key, but they put the parcel in the shared parcel locker and then are supposed to put the key to the parcel locker in my mailbox, which they didn't do.
Don't any of you guys have community mailboxes? I've had one since I was 13 years old -- never had door to door delivery.

Yetti has always had mail delivered to his door.. and thats they way it shall remain.
If they want people to get less service by canada post, then isnt it only logical that the cost of mailing the letters go down as well ? kinda like using those self-help cashier things... you should get discounts for using them

You do if you key in your own produce.
