If it's a modern day flat screen, it's super easy to fix. There are only 3 components really: screen, power supply, main control board.
It's all plug and play, just have to diagnose what stopped working.
I.e: won't turn on? Power supply. It'll turn on, no picture but sound? It's the screen/display. It'll turn on, show picture, maybe no sound (or randomly cuts in and out) or inputs won't work, it's the control board.
The power supply and main board are about $50/each on ebay for most popular models. If it's the screen/display itself, you're better off buying a new tv.
What's the brand? Call the 1800 # and they can refer you to a local repair shop.

If it's a samsung, they've been known to have faulty capacitors on their power supply, known issue. It's 6 screws to remove the back plate and 4 screws to remove the power supply. Straight swap. Ebay and kijiji are a good place to check too.

Dell has a batch of faulty capacitors a while back. Affected almost every one of the PC at work. They had to extend their warranty for a year to cover replacement of MBs. Easy to tell on them as the capacitors would swell and eventually leak.

Yeah this was an issue with 46"-55" Samsung mid-range tv's from about 2008-2010 (give or take). I fixed a few for some friends, for the cost of a case of beer, better than buying a new tv. At least these newer models are easier to "repair" with just straight part swaps and simple boards.
