What sort of tools do you carry when out on the dirt.
My V-strom has the factory tool kit, plus I can carry extra tools in the tube in the Sargent seat.
My DRZ has zero space for tools though... so I am wondering what I could/should carry and where on it. I have replaced most of the 8mm bolts holding the plastic with Hex head bolts, so I for them I can get away with one allen key, but I need to put together an emergency tool kit for this bike.

Flat tire repair kit and the factory tool set that came with it. With that i can do pretty much anything on the bike to get me out of a sticky situation. Oh and duct tape lol
All of life’s problems can be solved with two things... duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn’t, you need duct tape. And if it doesn’t move and it should, you need WD40.

This. But instead of duct tape, I have a bunch of zip ties.
If it needs anything more than that on the side of the road, it requires CAA.

I read an article about this a few years ago. They suggested laying out all your tools next to your bike, then going through them one by one and deciding if you would really use it for a roadside repair. If you're like me, you end up with a small bag of tools, plus some odds and ends. If you're a mechanic, you end up having to buy a trailer.
I really only carry what I need to change a flat tire, and de-water my bike. If that fails, I carry a 15' tow strap. Best way to tow a bike? Tow from the right footpeg on the tow bike, to the left footpeg on the bike being towed. Or vice-versa, as long as it's opposite footpegs.
