A man believed to be in his 20s drowned at Ontario Place late Thursday while trying to retrieve his cellphone.
Toronto Police received a medical call just before midnight and were informed the male dropped his phone in Lake Ontario and tried to get it back.
Police, ambulance and fire were contacted and the man was located in the water.
He was transported to the hospital via emergency run but did not survive.
It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor.
Police are investigating.
